The Bendix piston-style spring brake chamber is an air brake actuator for heavy-duty commercial vehicle disc brakes, combining a service brake chamber and a parking/emergency chamber with a piston-driven spring into one unit. It uses air pressure to release a powerful internal spring for driving, and releases that air to engage the parking/emergency brake. Unlike diaphragm-only types, these use a piston mechanism to control the parking spring.
