The Bendix® Versajust® GS (Grounded-Style) is an automatic slack adjuster designed specifically for vehicles where the brake envelope cannot accommodate a standard link-style unit. Its core function is to maintain precise brake-to-drum clearance using the patented WearMax™ Clutch, which provides a gradual adjustment rate to prevent brake drag and extend the life of linings by up to 16% and drums by up to 30%. Unlike the LS model, the GS is engineered with a "grounded" reference arm that allows for varied arm angles (5", 5.5", and 6") and multiple offsets to fit complex axle geometries found in specialty and severe-duty applications, such as refuse and transit vehicles.
